# MC Tempo – Middlesbrough / Teesside Makina MC **MC Tempo** is another name from the **Middlesbrough and Teesside Makina scene** who deserves a place in the WGR North East Rave Archive. Tempo was part of a Middlesbrough MC scene that also included names such as: **MC Banks MC Hyper MC Rocking MC Glocky MC Jester** ## MC Banks & MC Tempo One of the strongest pieces of evidence comes from a 2014 interview with **MC Banks**, who talks about the early Middlesbrough rave scene and describes **MC Tempo as his B2B partner**. Banks & Tempo became one of the local MC combinations associated with the Teesside Makina sound. ## Teesside Tearout Tempo can also be found on surviving **Teesside Tearout** material alongside: **MC Banks MC Jester MC Rocking MC Kicking** with **DJ Crank**. Recordings like these are important because they show there was a proper local MC scene developing around Middlesbrough and Teesside – not just the better-known scenes in Sunderland and Newcastle. ## Still Part of the Scene Tempo's name continued appearing on North East rave line-ups years later. At the **Initialize Valentine's Ball at Middlesbrough Empire in February 2026**, the New Monkey section featured Chrissy G B2B DJ Culture with: **MC Tazo MC Tempo MC Turbo D** More than two decades after the classic Makina period, Tempo was still representing the sound in Middlesbrough. --- ## Do You Remember MC Tempo? Did you see **MC Tempo around Middlesbrough or Teesside**? Do you remember **Banks & Tempo B2B**? Have you still got an old Tempo tape, CD, flyer, photograph or video? Post your memories and recordings below and help us preserve another piece of **Teesside rave history**. **Weedy Garage Radio – Keeping North East Rave History Alive.**
