ABOUT MC TRANCE
North East Makina & Rave MC
MC Trance is a North East rave MC associated with the region's makina scene and its fast, energetic style of live MCing.
Known through live rave appearances and recorded sets, MC Trance has remained part of the North East circuit and continues to appear on makina event line-ups.
🎤 MC Trance on the Mic
MC Trance's style is built for the speed and energy of makina.
Performing over fast DJ sets requires an MC to work closely with the music — knowing when to push the vocals, when to work the crowd and when to allow the tune itself to take over.
That live interaction is an important part of MC Trance's performances.
Rather than the MC simply sitting over the top of the music, the microphone becomes another part of the set.
🔥 Live Sets
MC Trance can be heard on surviving recordings from North East rave events.
One example is a recording from Elysium in Sunderland on 26 November 2022, featuring DJ Brown with MC Trance & Banks.
Recordings like this are valuable because they preserve MC Trance doing what an MC is meant to do — performing live rather than being represented by a studio biography.
For ravers who were there, these sets preserve memories of the night.
For people discovering MC Trance later, they provide a chance to hear his style for themselves.
🔊 Still Active
MC Trance isn't simply a name found on an old rave tape.
He has continued appearing on North East event line-ups.
In March 2026, MC Trance was included on the line-up for Hysteria Dance in Newcastle.
His continued appearances demonstrate that MC Trance remains connected with the scene years after many of the classic makina recordings and events that helped establish the North East sound.
💿 Keeping the Sets Alive
A big part of MC Trance's history survives through recorded DJ and MC sessions.
That is particularly important for underground MCs.
Their history isn't necessarily documented through albums, singles or mainstream music charts.
It's documented through:
live recordings, event flyers, rave line-ups, uploaded sets and the memories of the people who were there.
Those recordings form the real archive.
🏆 MC Trance
MC Trance is part of the continuing story of North East rave MCing.
His appearances on live recordings and modern event line-ups connect different periods of the scene and allow his performances to continue reaching listeners outside the original events.
For Weedy Garage Radio, preserving names such as MC Trance is important because North East rave history isn't only about the DJs and records.
The MCs helped give the scene its voice.
And MC Trance is one of those voices.
