What this page covers
WGR (Weedy Garage Radio) uses browser cookies and local storage for account sessions, security and remembering choices. Local storage is browser-held information, even though it is not a cookie. The UK PECR rules cover both, and the UK GDPR also applies where personal information is involved.
WGR storage currently used
- Session cookies support sign-in, form security and access to member or administration features. Blocking session storage can prevent those features working. Sessions and their server records expire according to the hosting configuration; signing out ends access through that account session.
- wgr_cookie_notice in local storage remembers that you dismissed the information notice. It has no automatic expiry in the current site code and remains until site data is cleared or the value changes.
- wgr_install_dismissed_until remembers “Not now” for the app-install notice. The reminder is hidden for seven days; the stored value can remain afterwards until cleared or replaced.
- Other interface preferences may be stored when you use the relevant controls. Your saved favourites and notifications are held with your account on the server, rather than solely in a browser cookie.
The Cookie notice button
The footer’s Cookie notice button reopens the information notice. “Got it” dismisses that notice; it is not an “accept all tracking” choice and does not create permission for advertising cookies. The current notice is not a consent manager with separate accept/reject categories.
External players, videos and images
WGR displays players or remote content from services such as YouTube, Mixcloud, SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitch, TikTok, Bandcamp and HearThis.at. A player or remote image may connect to its provider when the WGR page loads, before playback starts. The provider can receive your IP address, browser details and the page/referrer information permitted by your browser, and may use its own cookies or storage. Provider behaviour differs by service and browser.
The current WGR notice does not block all third-party players or provide a per-provider consent switch. Browser privacy controls can limit third-party storage but are not a replacement for consent where WGR is required to obtain it. WGR must obtain valid consent before non-exempt storage or access; an external provider’s policy does not remove that responsibility. This policy describes the present behaviour and does not certify that every embedded provider is exempt.
Managing browser data
You can clear WGR site data or block cookies and third-party storage in your browser settings. Clearing data may sign you out and show the notices again. Choices apply to the browser and device you use. Saved account favourites are not deleted by clearing browser data.
Install WGR
The install controls offer an app shortcut or browser installation where supported. Installing WGR does not give consent to optional tracking. The browser controls installation and removal; WGR does not ask for payment to use this button.
